Breyer Horse Accessories: Meet The New Breyer Riders!

January 27, 2011

We all know Brenda Breyer, the wonderful and versatile rider that has been a champion rider for over 20 years! She’s been a cowgirl, a dressage rider, a saddle seat rider, an Arabian princess and more. She’s jumped in the grand prix, and championed every hurdle you’ve put in front of her, but now she’s got two new friends in the barn that will bring a wonderful new spin on Breyer Riders!

Eva is a lovely blonde doll with her hair tied back so that she’s ready to hop on a horse and go! She’s dressed in an exciting bright pink and white stripped polo top. Her tan riding breeches tuck into her muck boots so she’s ready to finish up her chores and then head on out. She comes with a Western Saddle and bridle that is Classic scale and in a lovely middle color brown. After her ride she can give her horse a well deserved bath with the sponge and bucket that come along with her.

Olivia is ready to finish off her chores in the barn and then ride on out. Her long brown hair is tied up in the back in a long braid to keep her hair out of her eyes. She wears a flannel shirt in shades of blue and a pair of blue jeans. Her blue jeans are rolled up to the top of her black Western Cowboy boots keeping them clean as the chores are done. She ties her green and red apron over her clothing so that she can keep her other clothing clean as well! She comes with a rake and shovel that she uses to clean stalls at her barn with and she also brings carrots and apples to treat the horses! After she’s done with all her chores she can hop up and take a trail ride!

Both new dolls are scaled as Classic scale (1:12 scale) adults or Traditional (1:9 scale) youth riders. All are lovely as can be and have lots of new fun accessories that will create a ton of new adventures in your barn. Bring home a new friend for your horses today from Golden Oak Stables!

Breyer Horse Race Horses: Zenyatta In Stock!

January 24, 2011

Golden Oak Stables has Zenyatta back in stock just in time to catch the excitement swirling around this proud mare!  Breyer’s Zenyatta has been one of their most popular models in a very long time, which is no surprise to anyone! This mare has been heating up the scene with her unbelievable record and lovable personality. She arrived in early December to Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky to start her life as a broodmare, but there’s another Kentucky connection in Z’s history. In 2005 Zenyatta was purchased at the famed Keeneland sale for a mere $60,000 as a yearling!

A few weeks ago Keeneland welcomed horses of all ages to the January horse sale.  Horses from all over the country came to be sold to new owners at the famed sale, some of the buyers even coming from Europe and Asia! Thousands of attendees came to Lexington hoping to find their next champion. 1021 horses were sold for a total of over 25 million dollars! The most expensive horse sold topped 1.4 million dollars and is headed to Japan where horse racing has a big following.

Here’s a few sights from the January 2011 sale. Will one of these horses end up as the next Zenyatta? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Breyer Horse New Releases: WEG Fever Is Still Strong!

January 17, 2011

The World Equestrian Games may have ended back in December but the fever’s still going strong! These wonderful games were seen as a success by all and Breyer was honored with being the official model horse of the games! There were many special models available only to attendees of the games, but Breyer and Golden Oak Stables have released two very special horses for 2011!

Cedric and Headley Britannia were two of the special runs released by Breyer for the World Equestrian Games. Both are equestrian stars produced in a stunningly detailed portrait style, and now Breyer has brought these hard to find WEG Special Runs to you!

Cedric is ridden by Laura Kraut. This stunning horse is a lovely fleabit grey and Breyer has produced this horse on the dynamic showjumping mold. The eye for detail is amazing! Cedric is shown in mid-canter and headed over to his next jump. He comes with a base which allows him to stand on one leg and be in the correct position for taking off!

Headley Britannia is a small but powerful champion eventer that has made her mark in her sport! Owned by Lucinda Fredricks, she stands a petite 15.3 hands high and is still going strong even at age 13! In 2008 she produced her first foal and I’m sure a line of champion eventers aren’t far away! Breyer’s version of Headley Britannia is created on the Strapless mold, a portrait model created in the spirit of a champion hunter mare that is simply feminine and simply perfect for Britannia!

Golden Oak Stables brings you these two WEG exclusive models that you can add to your collection, so don’t delay! These releases are limited and once they’re gone, they’re gone! So let us not only bring you a special Breyer but also take a short tour with us of some of the WEG sights!

Breyer Horse Collecting: Winter Projects

January 13, 2011

With 49 of 50 states in the United States having snow and some towns covered in feet rather than inches, chances are, many of us are looking for something to do during this very snowy winter!

Winter is the time I set aside for model horse project, I don’t have an excuse not to sit down for a few hours and work on tack. Many other use this time to their advantage of getting creative with their horses and you should too!  These cold days are just perfect for getting your hands dirty and diving in!

Have you ever customized your own Breyer? Turned it from one horse to another? Its very easy to paint your own horse and turn your horse into the horse of your dreams!  You can paint a model horse with Acrylic paint that can be found at any craft stores, other medias are also used by some artists such as oil paints, airbrushing, and soft chalk pastels. Starting in Acrylic is a good way to jump in, just be sure to make sure you want to customize the horse because once he’s painted there’s no going aback and also to spray him with a coat of primer which will make the paint stay so you can enjoy your horse for years to come!

Tack making is also a wonderful activity. Leather cord and lacing can be made into fun halters and bridles with the combination of a bit of glue and jump rings. Many tack makers are also very successful with grosgrain ribbon to make super realistic nylon stable halters! If you are feeling very ambitious try making a saddle! One of the easiest ways to get started is to get a tack catalog and start paging through, pick a saddle and strive to make it as close as possible. It will take time, but with some practice you can be a famous model horse tack maker too!

If you aren’t creative, Winter is the perfect time to organize and dust that collection which gives you time to just enjoy your models, and there isn’t anything better than that! If you are creative though, visit Golden Oak Stables for a myriad of activity kits that can get you started!
