July 24, 2014

It may be the middle of summer for most of us, but thoughts of Christmas and the holidays are already starting to gallop into the heads of Breyer collectors. Golden Oak Stables is ready to bring you a horse that will have you thinking of winter sooner than you can imagine!

Each year, Breyer releases a Holiday Horse and a series of wonderful holday pieces to help celebrate the season with collectors. Each year a special horse is chosen and given the honor of being the holiday horse. Since 1996 collectors have added these lovely horses to their shelves and faithfully displayed them each holiday with the spirit of the season.

This year, Breyer has chosen the popular Esprit model to be created into the holiday horse. First introduced in 2010 for the World Equestrian Games, Espirt is a beautiful mold with spirit and life beyond compare. This wonderful mold has been painted a stunning mulberry grey color with shades of grey and hints of red in his mane and tail. This intricate paint job is unlike no other and is the first time that Breyer has created an intricate mulberry grey.

He has been named Bayberry and Roses in honor of his stunning costume that has been delicately created and expertly crafted with the spirit of the season in mind. Wreaths of bayberry and roses create a stunning costume that is accented with organza and golden ribbons throughout.

Ready to jump into your home and bring the holiday spirit with him, Bayberry and Roses is the latest addition to the holiday Christmas Horse collection and is sure to become a fast favorite among collectors. Have you made room on your shelf yet?

Attendance was the highest it’s ever been, with over 10,000 attendees, and the enthusiasm was contagious from so many collectors that were attending for their first time.

Many collectors were excited to meet the celebration horse Gooitzen fan Teakesyl, a stunning Friesian ridden by the famous star Carson Kressley. This amazing Friesian has taken the world by storm and with his illustrious owners and rider and is on his way to Lexington to introduce himself to thousands of Breyer collectors!

Each year Breyer invites one special horse to Breyerfest to have the honor of the Celebration Horse. This horse is the star of Breyerfest and is chosen very carefully each year. The celebration model is honored with not only top billing among the guest horses but is also created in model form that each three day ticket holder will get to bring home with them. In the past 25 years  Breyer has honored eventers, horses that have been in blockbuster movies, world champion breed horses, champion reining horses and that’s just the start. Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2014 Celebrating 25 Years

July 7, 2014

Each year Breyer fans from all over the world descend on Lexington Kentucky for four special days of events hosted by Breyer. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event and in that spirit, Breyer has pulled out all the stops for an incredible event!

The first Breyerfest was held in 1990 at the Kentucky Horse Park, the same venue it is held in today. A few hundred collectors joined Breyer to celebrate their love for the horse and their love of Breyers with a cookout, concert and a bit of shopping. Since then, the event has grown leaps and bounds into the event it is today. In the first few years a model horse show was added to the events. Now there are three large shows including one for breakable models on Thursday, a huge open show on Friday and a children’s show on Saturday.

Seminars and workshops began to evolve from there and collectors could now come to Kentucky to learn new techniques and skills. Top artists in the hobby have joined hobbyists each year to teach their skills and techniques. The real horse demonstrations grew bigger and bigger each year, pulling in huge equestrian stars and even some incredible Hollywood stars like Priscilla Presley and this year Carson Kressley!

Breyerfest now takes up the entire horse park with attendance reaching over 10,000 attendees in recent years. The hobby is infectious and Breyerfest is a great way to experience it. Spending three days in horse country surrounded by real horses, model horses and those who love both is an experience like no other!

If you don’t have the chance to be there this year, don’t fret, Golden Oak Stables will be bringing you all of the action! So stay tuned to Stable News for all the excitement!

Breyer Horse Collecting: What Have You Learned?

July 3, 2014

We all start off collecting Breyers for different reasons and at different times in our lives. Some people start as young children, with Breyers that help them play through their favorite horse adventures. Some start as adults and bring their love of horses into their homes. No matter how your collecting journey started, there are bound to be things you’ve learned along the way.

When we first start out collecting, we’re all finding out way in the collecting world and figuring out just what we’re looking for in our collections. With so many different Breyer horses in the world, it’s hard to know where to start. Many of our first horses often become sentimental, and some even become our first customizing projects if you’re an artistic type. Whatever your first horses were, chances are, they hold a special place in your heart. From there collections begin to grow and make themselves into the collection that you have today. What have you learned through the process of creating your collection?

There’s also experiences that collectors can learn from, like going to your first model horse show, or attending Breyerfest for the first time. These experiences are one in their own and are amazing experiences for any collector. Live showing and events like Breyerfest are a chance for collectors to not only meet other collectors but to also learn new things, see new models and compete with their models. With so much to do, it’s easy to see why there’s a lot to learn from these experiences.

There’s knowledge to be learned through every experience and knowledge to be learned from other collectors. Golden Oak Stables wants to know what your best tip is for collectors! What have you learned along the way that you can share with others? Email Stacy: and let us know!
