One of the biggest draws of Breyerfest is the chance to see the real horses behind the models and dozens of other real life horses. The Kentucky Horse Park has resident horses that span the gamut of horse breeds as well as famous horses that have come to retire there. This is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often!

Breyerfest also brings in dozens of horses, many of them famous in their own right, to entertain guests from around the world. No other event brings together such a wide variety of horses from so many disciplines and different areas of the equine world. Guests get the chance to see them perform their talents in performances throughout the weekend, as well as meeting them up close and personally!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2016

Breyerfest is the annual festival celebrating both the horse and our love of model horses. This year celebrates both the 27th year for Breyerfest as well as the country of Brazil and the celebration of Carnival!

Brazil is a perfect choice for Breyerfest for two reasons, not only is the country rich in equestrian history, it also is playing host to the 2016 Olympic games in Rio. This year, equestrians and other athletes will descend on Rio to compete for the gold metal. Collectors will descend on Lexington, KY in July for a celebration of model horses with a Brazilian twist!

Collectors can compete in their own version of the Olympics with the North American Nationals that lead up to Breyerfest in the days before the event. Then collectors can compete in either an open or children’s model horse show during Breyerfest. These shows are some of the toughest in the world, and just like the Olympic Games will declare champions on all levels!

In addition there are exceptional guest horses, workshops, seminars and the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park to thrill guests for three full days in the Kentucky Bluegrass. No matter what you enjoy as a hobbyist there’s events and activities that will fill your time in Kentucky with wonderful memories!

Breyer Horse Collecting: Bringing A New Collector Into The Fold

Sharing your collection is something that all collectors love to do.  Opening your collection to friends, family, other collectors, are all things that collectors love to do, and have pride in. But what about new collectors?

Collectors all start somewhere, where did you get your start? Many people have very fond memories of their first Breyer horse and where they got it from. Wandering the halls of a toy store? Handed down from a family member? A gift under the tree on Christmas morning? All of these, and so many more, are ways that collectors get their start with Breyers!

What about new collectors though? Do you have any friends or family that are horse lovers? Maybe a child that is just waiting for their first Breyer? Starting a collector can be one of the most fulfilling and happy things for a collector to do! Picking a model that will be beloved seems like a tedious process, but by taking the person’s likes and dislikes into consideration, you can pick one easily! Collectors favorites like Misty and Stormy are always good choices if you need somewhere to start. No matter which you pick, chances are that their first Breyer will be beloved no matter what for many years to come!

Breyer Horse Events: BreyerWest and BreyerFest

Breyer events are one of the most special parts of collecting Breyer horses. Getting the chance to meet other collectors and participating in model horse shows, workshops and seminars are all exciting for any collector. This year, Breyer brings it’s events to both sides of the country, for the first time in many years!

This weekend a special event is coming to Albany Oregon, BreyerWest! For the first time ever BreyerWest is being held in the Pacific Northwest and collectors are giddy with excitement! Held in conjunction with the Northwest Horse Fair, this event is filled with the most prestigious of hobbyists that will be sharing their knowledge through seminars, workshops and judging two model horse shows! If you are in the area, this event is not to be missed!

Of course, Breyerfest is gearing up for it’s well known July date at the Kentucky Horse Park. This year celebrates Carnival and Brazil in honor of the Olympic games that are quickly approaching. Model horse shows, an evening horse gala, seminars, celebrity horses and more are all on the ticket, as they are every year. There’s still plenty of time to plan a trip to Lexington for this year’s festivities!

Real Life Breyer Horses: Smokin’ Double Dutch At Breyerfest 2015

There’s so much to love about a little pony with a lot of power, and Smokin’ Double Dutch is a prime example of this! With fans all over the world, this little Quarter Pony has captured the excitement of Breyer collectors and was a welcome guest horse at Breyerfest 2015 where collectors and fans got to meet this incredible pony in person!

Smokin’ Double Dutch is the epitome of versatility performing in just about every discipline you can imagine. This talented pony shows all of his fans just what it means to excel across the board. She has earned the Quarter Pony overall high point, or reserve high point an astonishing 6 out of the last 8 years and has achieved the Quarter Pony Association first Supreme Champion honor for her titles in trail, halter, english, equitation and driving!

Fans got a chance to meet this incredible pony at Breyerfest 2015 and to get to see her strut her stuff and perform as a guest horse! Fans also could get their very own Smokin’ Double Dutch model signed at Breyerfest and see up close what makes an exceptional pony!

 

This beautiful little mare may be on her way home, but you can still bring Smokin’ Double Dutch to your stable from Golden Oak Stables. Breyer, as always, brings the most incredible horses to collectors, both in person, and in model form!

Real Life Breyer Horses: Chocolate Chip Kisses At Breyerfest

Breyer is known for making exceptional horses that are unlike no other. Famous and talented horses are Breyer’s portrait specialty and Chocolate Chip Kisses is a prime example of this!

Chocolate Chip Kisses is an exceptional paint horse that has taken his young rider to the winners circle dozens of times and the pair have won Pinto World Championships 28 times! This is an exceptional record for any rider, much less a young rider! Chocolate Chip Kisses competes across the board in English and Western events and excels in them all! It’s no wonder he’s not only taken the Pinto world by storm but also excited Breyer collectors!

Chocolate Chip Kisses was welcomed to Breyerfest 2015 as a guest horse, an illustrious honor! He showed off his many skills for crowds of his adoring fans in the main covered arena each day. Fans also got a chance to meet Chocolate Chip Kisses after his performances and to also meet and greet with him at autograph signings and at his stall at the park all weekend long!

Collectors may have had the chance to meet Chocolate Chip Kisses at Breyerfest, but you can always bring home your own Chocolate Chip Kisses from Golden Oak Stables!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2015 Wrapup

Breyerfest 2015 galloped into the Kentucky Horse Park last weekend and with it came a weekend filled with model horse mania! We take a look back at some of the highlights from the event so that you can get a piece of the action!

Breyerfest might take place over three days at the Kentucky Horse Park but collectors gather in Lexington Kentucky earlier in the week to get a piece of the action. Collectors descend on the Clarion Hotel, the official host hotel of Breyerfest, for room sales and events throughout the week and weekend of Breyerfest. Collectors can browse through each other’s rooms for models to buy and take part in events like meetups, a swap meet, workshops and even a model horse show at the Clarion.

Friday brought collectors out, despite the record temperatures, to the Kentucky Horse Park. With a heat index over 100 degrees, it was one of the hottest Breyerfests on record, but that didn’t stop collectors! Three Day tickets were sold out before the gates even opened, and collectors anxiously stood in line for hours to get their first look at Breyerfest 2015.

The weekend was filled with amazing horses, exciting events and collectors connecting with other collectors all over the world! It’s no surprise that this is the event of the year for just about any hobbyist! Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2015 Shows

Each year Breyer lovers come from all over the world to compete in shows over the Breyerfest weekend. For many, these shows are the epitome of model horse competition and for many more, the idea of competing among competition from all over the world is too much to pass up. Whatever the reason, the Breyerfest shows stand out among others!

Thursday starts off with a Breyerfest show unique as it is intriguing. Breakables at Breyerfest Live is a model horse show is a show that is only for, as the name states, breakable horses. Breakables are known to many as being porcelain and ceramic horses that of course, are easily broken. This unique show takes place at the Clarion Hotel, the host hotel for Breyerfest, and brings the most delicate of models together.

Friday plays host to the Breyerfest Open Show, arguably the most competitive show in the world. Thousands of horses will come from all over to compete for honors of champion and even fewer spots as grand champion. The Open Show takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park from sunup until the evening. This long day of competition is always one to go into the record books.

Saturday young collectors gather to compete and learn at the Breyerfest Children and Youth Show in the same space the open showers competed just a day earlier. This show is similar in size but a great place for young collectors to learn about showing and about their models. Young collectors can get a taste of model horse showing while learning so much as they compete with their models!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2015 Guest Horses

One of the most exciting parts of Breyerfest are the guest horses that come from far and wide to meet their fans for one weekend in July. This year, Breyer has brought an exceptional group of horses to Breyerfest that will have fans from all over excited to see their favorite equestrian stars!

The guest of honor is better known as the Celebration Model by Breyer collectors and for 26 years Breyer has honored some of the most outstanding horses in the world with this honor. Each year, Breyer creates a model in the likeness of this horse which is given to each three day ticket holder. This year, Simba du Pont de Tournay, a rare Ardennes stallion has been given this honor. Originally imported from Belgum, Simba lives in Florida where he works as a stallion and also drives!

Other guest horses for 2015 include Oration, the 2013 Arabian Sport Horse of the Year that will show fans the versatility of the Arabian breed. With years of championships under her belt she truly is an exceptional example of her breed. Smokin Doubledutch is a little pony with a whole lot of talent. This pinto pony has already made a huge name for herself in so many arenas. Champion endurance horse, OT Sara Moniet is sure to draw crowds from far and wide to learn about the sport of endurance. A new addition to the Breyer line for mid-year 2015, Chocolate Chip Kisses will be making an appearance and teach others about determination and hard work. Last but certainly not least, Lil Ricky Rocker will be there once again to brighten up everyone’s day!
