Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest Live 2016

One of the most exciting parts of Breyerfest is the competition that comes with the model horse shows that come along with it. This year was especially special with the North American Nationals happening in Lexington, which meant, the competition at other shows were even more fierce!

The largest show in the world, Breyerfest Live took place on the first day of Breyerfest and it was not only an opportunity to compete but to also see models that you may have only heard about in rumors! The rarest of the rare, the most elusive customs and the most impressive original finish models all came to compete in Lexington for a chance in the winner’s circle.

This show is unlike so many others, and actually operates like six shows in one with all of the different divisions and classes. There were hundreds of classes that over six thousand horses competed in for a chance at the elusive blue ribbon. There is no doubt about it, this is some of the most competitive competition in the world!

Breyer Horse Events: The Biggest Week In Model Horses!

It’s that time of year, the most exciting for model horse fans around the world, Breyerfest is here! But what makes this week even more exciting is the North American Nationals is coming to Lexington too, making it an incredible week full of model horse fun!

Once a year the North American Model Horse Showers Association holds a show to name the national champions in model horse showing. This year, the show comes to Lexington Kentucky in the days leading up to Breyerfest. For three days, thousands of horses will compete for hundreds of top tens, champions and reserve champions under the most experienced judges in the world. There’s also a yearly meeting that will announce the winner of the Member Show Of The Year and the newly elected members of the Board Of Directors!

Friday begins Breyerfest proper, and this year a Carnivale theme is getting everyone excited for the Olympics and Brazil! With a brand new sculpture for the celebration model, three model horse shows, contests and more, it’s no surprise that tickets for the weekend have sold out! There’s seminars, workshops, pony rides and that doesn’t even begin to consider the amazing Kentucky Horse Park itself! It’s a horse lover’s paradise!

Lexington is the place to be this week, but Golden Oak Stables will be taking you there from the comfort of your home. So sit back, relax and come to Kentucky with us!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2014 Recap

Breyerfest 2014 celebrated the 25th anniversary of Breyerfest in grand style with horses from all over the country and attendees from all over the world! The Silver Jubilee lived up to it’s name and Breyer collectors will all agree, this is a Breyerfest that will be remembered for many, many years to come!

Friday morning started bright and early for many Breyerfest attendees at both the open live model horse show and to get into Breyerfest! Lines started forming early in the morning for Breyerfest attendees and even hours before the gates opened stretched throughout the parking lot! Attendance was the highest it’s ever been, with over 10,000 attendees, and the enthusiasm was contagious from so many collectors that were attending for their first time.

Many collectors were excited to meet the celebration horse Gooitzen fan Teakesyl, a stunning Friesian ridden by the famous star Carson Kressley. These two were the stars of the show each time they entered the arena to show off their amazing partnership. Each autograph session for the pair was sold out with fans jumping at the bit to meet both Gooitzen and Carson!

Setting another record, the Breyerfest Children and Youth show sold out with the highest attendance ever, almost 200 competitors between both shows. This show is a popular one for young collectors all over the world with a chance to show off their horses and their creativity!

Saturday night welcomed the famous Tommy Turvey and The Gala Of Royal Horses to the Alltech Arena for a show unlike any Breyer has done before. The entertainers performed a specially designed show only for Breyerfest attendees that brought together trick riding and the amazing abilities of the amazing breeds of The Gala Of Royal Horses.

Sunday, as it often is, was a quieter day to round out the weekend with your last chance to see performers, meet the guest horses and to enjoy the Kentucky Horse Park. With a quiet goodbye Breyerfest bid goodbye to all of it’s attendees and welcomed them again for 2015.

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2013 Denim And Diamonds

Model horse collectors from near and far are getting ready for the event of the year, Breyerfest! Each year thousands of people come from far and wide to celebrate the model horses we all collect and love so much and this year is proving to be no exception!

Lexington Kentucky and the Kentucky Horse Park have played host to Breyerfest for over 20 years and this year welcomes Denim and Diamonds! This celebration of the bling and beauty that go along with the world of Western horses is exciting to say the least! Breyer has brought together a group of guests that you’ll not soon forget. The celebration horse is the amazing Smart and Shiney. This reining horse has been heating up the world with not only his amazing talent in the ring but also his amazing looks! He’s truly a handsome horse. His owner and rider is also a bit of a star, the famous Lyle Lovett! There are horses from all over the country on the guest list like Lady C, a beautiful spotted saddle horse and Tennessee Titan, a spotted mule!

With just about a month left there’s excitement running wild with collectors with everything from workshops to special models! There’s shows that are some of the toughest competition in the world and contests that challenge the creativity of every entrant. There’s just so much to do!

The horse capital of the world also brings collectors real horse events to experience, from shows at the horse park to the outlying farms. Keeneland is right down the road from the horse park as are dozens of the most famous stables in the world. Royalty like Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra even live in Lexington, but chances are you won’t be able to see them!

No matter what there’s something spectacular for every horse lover at Breyerfest, and if you don’t have the opportunity to go, don’t fret. Golden Oak Stables and Stable News will bring you the events of Breyerfest so you too can experience the largest model horse convention in the world!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2012

Breyerfest 2012 wrapped up yesterday at the Kentucky Horse Park after three days of excitement and fun for thousands of model horse hobbyists. With the highest attendance ever, Breyerfest 2012 brought everything British to life with it’s celebration of everything from the United Kingdom. From the horses to the culture, Breyerfest 2012 was a fittingly British affair for everyone!




Breyer’s celebration model, Mariah’s Boon, is an American Drum Horse that brings all of the characteristics of the Queen’s personal drum horses to horse lovers all over the world! With his gorgeous paint markings and one blue eye, Mariah’s Boon stands out in a sea of horses! Boon didn’t always have an easy time though, he was once very ill from an accident that developed an abcess. After a year of expert care Boon was looking better than ever and wowed his fans at Breyerfest by carrying the twin drums on either side of him as his rider brought the spirit of the drum horse to Breyerfest attendees.


Attendees also had the opportunity to meet real British hobbyists like Amy Davies and Donna Chaney! The fun didn’t stop there though, with three horse shows, Breyerfest had chances for china collectors, adults and children to show off their best horses in hopes for that coveted blue ribbon!

Breyer also brought a myriad of workshops and seminars to the Kentucky Horse Park! From how to show and judge model horse shows to learning about equine color, the seminars were both informative and fun! There was no excuse not to learn something new at Breyerfest this year! The workshops gave aspiring artists and collectors a chance to create something new for their collection. Sculpting and painting with some of the most well known artists in the hobby isn’t a chance you get every day and it certainly was the chance of a lifetime for many! You could even learn fun things like jewelry making or making your own model horse tote! There truly was something for everyone!

Breyer Horse Events: 2012 Events at Golden Oak Stables

Golden Oak Stables is the hub for Breyer activity in New England! With a ton of events each year, Golden Oak Stables is the place to experience events that will teach you about horses and allow you to compete with other Breyer lovers in a fun enviroment.

First up on the Golden Oak Stables calendar is an all Novice/Youth show that is meant to show you just how model horse showing works! On March 24th collectors from all over will come to Concord New Hampshire to compete in a fun and fair environment at Spring Break Live! Novices and youths are welcome at this show that brings together friends new and old to compete. There are divisions for Halter, Collectibilty, Customs and Performance as well as Fun Classes that give you a chance to show just about any Breyer you have! Showers will compete for hundreds of ribbons and a ton of championships!

On April 14th Golden Oak Stables opens its doors for New England Spring Live an open NAN qualifying show. This means, any horse that places first or second is qualified to show at the North American Nationals in 2012 or 2013!

This full classlist features dozens of classes that will fill the day with fun and fierce competition! Performance, Original Finish Halter, Original Finish Collectiblity, Custom Halter and Custom Workmanship divisions will fill the day with enough competition to keep even the veteran shower enthused! The fun classes are creative and sure to bring out fun, interesting and funny entries for all to see!

Breyer Horse Events: Breyerfest 2011

Everyone is on their way home, cars are packed and the horses are being packed into their trailers for a long drive home. Breyerfest 2011 has come and gone in a flurry of excitement and the fun filled weekend will be remembered by all!

By Thursday of last week hundreds of model horse hobbyists had made their way to Lexington, KY and were already taking over the host hotel, the Clarion. With the opening of the Artisans Gallery and Breakables at Breyerfest Live Show taking place on Thursday, events for the weekend got underway!

Guest horses filled the weekend, including the celebration horse, Pecos! Pecos is a world class Andalusian who is beautiful as can be! He was joined by the colorful Thoroughbred Sato who was a crowd favorite, Black Tie Affair the black and white 7/8ths Arabian who entertains wherever he goes and Kripton Seni! Breyer also brought many other horse presentations to entertain, including combined driving, miniature horses and the ever popular, pony games!

Two horse shows were highlights of the weekend for the nearly 300 attendees of both shows! Dozens of horses were crowned as Breyerfest Champions and hundreds got the pleasure of going home as a winner!

Saturday night brought a costume contest with dozens of entrants that wowed the crowd and even a few that made the crowd laugh! The benefit auction on Saturday that benefited some very deserving charities brought in an astonishing amount with horses demanding some of the highest prices ever! With one of a kind horses that were beautiful as can be, its no surprise that it was such a successful year for Breyer and all of its charities!

The weekend also held seminars, workshops and demonstrations that encompassed all aspects of the hobby, from introductions into the world of customizing to equine color genetics, there truly were events for anyone of all ages! The Hobby Information Booth was staffed all weekend with real hobbyists that shared their skills with everyone.

Breyer Horse Showing: NAN 2011 Review

This past weekend, Tucson Arizona played host to the North American Nationals Model Horse Show! Hosted by the North American Model Horse Shows Association (NAMHSA for short), this year end show brought the best horses in the nation to the warm Southwest for three days of the toughest competition in the country!

Hobbyists from all over the country and world came to Arizona along with their winning horses to compete for national titles. All horses that are entered into a NAN qualifying show and place first or second place at that show are automatically qualified to enter the national show once in a period of two years.

The North American Nationals, or NAN for short, travels between Kentucky on the even years and an independent location on the odd years. Arizona was chosen as the host for the 2011 show and Region 3 opened their doors wide for the rest of the country! Over a thousand horses were entered over three days of competition and dozens of national champions and reserve champions were awarded along with hundreds of national Top Ten winners.  Champions and Reserve Champions are awarded with a lovely wooden plaque celebrating their well deserved win and Top Ten winners take home huge ribbons that will remind winners of their achievement!

Also taking place was an amazing raffle where hobbyists could purchase raffle tickets to win amazing lots donated by the hobby’s most talented and amazing hobbyists! Almost 30 lots raised thousands of dollars to help NAMHSA continue providing for years to come!

All of this would not be possible though without the hard work of NAMHSA and NAN volunteers. Years of work go into each and every national shows as do hundreds of volunteer hours both before and at the event. NAMHSA is a volunteer based organization and without those wonderful volunteers, it would never be possible!

Sites are now set to NAN 2012 which takes place the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before Breyerfest! You can start getting ready now, all horses that place 1st or 2nd in a NAN qualifying show will qualify for NAN 2012! Real Life Breyer Horses: Rolex Three Day Event And Breyer

This past weekend the Kentucky Horse Park was host to the only four star eventing competition in the United States and welcomed competitors from all over the world to the Rolex Three Day Event. This star studded event comprised of a Dressage competition on Thursday and Friday, Saturday played host to the exhilarating Cross Country and Sunday demanded the precision of a master with Show Jumping. Riders must have a horse that is talented in all three areas to stand a chance at this difficult competition and only 25 make it to the final stage of Show Jumping! The horse and rider that wins the Rolex is sure to go down in history, but this year was even more special, in many ways!

After the Cross Country event on Saturday the 25 top riders began prepping for the final day of competition, stadium show jumping. Well known american riders Karen O Connor, Kim Severson and Boyd Martin were among the top riders as well as favorites from around the world like William Fox-Pitt and Oliver Townend. The real story was the rider sitting at the top of the leader board not only in first place but in second, Mary King from Great Britain! Among the top ride was the American rider Sinead Halpin who was making her four star premier on her horse Manoir De Carneville! Overcome with joy upon her clean ride in the show jumping phase Sinead shed a few tears as she received a standing ovation from the crowd! Sinead finished in third place with her clean ride and Mary Townsend ended clean on her two mounts putting her in first and second place, an unheard of feat!

Breyer Horse Event Report: New England Fall Live 2010

This past Saturday, October 23rd 2010 marked the date of the second annual Golden Oak Stables: New England Fall Live show! This event marks the end of a year of novice showing at Golden Oak Stables and welcomes the model horse hobby as a whole for an open show and a day of fun!


The morning started early with over 55 entrants making their way from all corners of the region to Concord, NH. Entrants came from all over New England, New York and as far as Canada! Experiences ranged from veteran showers that have been showing for dozens of years down to first time showers. One of the most incredible things about the day was to see the interactions between different showers and how eager everyone was to share their knowledge with each other.



Good sportmanship was abound Saturday, even with classes stuffed as full as can be. Each winner was congratulated and cheered on with great enthusiasm by all! Dozens of champions were honored and even more models went home with the coveted blue ribbon. Many more gained the honor of being qualified for the North American Nationals show being held in Tuscon, AZ in 2011 and Lexington, KY in 2012!





A day full of fun, friends and horses, New England Fall Live was truly an amazing show by all and the level of competition was as high as can be!

Keep your eye out for information about next year’s Golden Oak Stables shows which are bound to be just as amazing as New England Fall Live 2010!
