Breyer Horse Events: BreyerWest and BreyerFest

March 17, 2016

Breyer events are one of the most special parts of collecting Breyer horses. Getting the chance to meet other collectors and participating in model horse shows, workshops and seminars are all exciting for any collector. This year, Breyer brings it’s events to both sides of the country, for the first time in many years!

This weekend a special event is coming to Albany Oregon, BreyerWest! For the first time ever BreyerWest is being held in the Pacific Northwest and collectors are giddy with excitement! Held in conjunction with the Northwest Horse Fair, this event is filled with the most prestigious of hobbyists that will be sharing their knowledge through seminars, workshops and judging two model horse shows! If you are in the area, this event is not to be missed!

Of course, Breyerfest is gearing up for it’s well known July date at the Kentucky Horse Park. This year celebrates Carnival and Brazil in honor of the Olympic games that are quickly approaching. Model horse shows, an evening horse gala, seminars, celebrity horses and more are all on the ticket, as they are every year. There’s still plenty of time to plan a trip to Lexington for this year’s festivities!

Even if you can’t attend, Golden Oak Stables will keep you in the know with the latest news, events and releases! So stay tuned!

Breyer Horse Collections: What Can You Do To Grow Your Collection?

August 23, 2010

Collections of any kind are meant to grow. It can be hard to grow your collection if you don’t have unlimited income, like most collectors, but finding creative ways to bring new members to your herd can not only be fun but it can also be rewarding.

One of the easiest things you can do to add a little bit of hobby income into your wallet is to cut down on your unneeded expenses. Things like eating fast food and grabbing a coffee every day can add up quick; cutting this out only a few days out of the month can add up quickly! By the end of the month you’ll probably have enough for a new traditional model! If you did that every month you’d have 12 new models for your collection!

Another thing you can do is pick up a little extra work here and there, like walking a neighbor’s dog or babysitting a neighbor. Picking up a few extra hours here or there doing an odd job is a fun way to bring in a few extra bucks! You’ll get a little variety in your life and have something to do while making money for your models!

Many hobbyists find that they have talents in the hobby that they can share with others and fund much of their hobby with. There are dozens of talented tack makers that create custom miniature tack for models. Many others custom paint model horses for others using a wide variety of mediums. Even more creative people find different ways to make a hit in the model horse hobby. Creating custom pouches for transportation and storage of models is one of the more creative ideas. Others create custom websites for model horse hobbyists to showcase their collections on the internet.

Finding a niche is not hard to do, nor is making a a few extra dollars by saving or working a few extra hours. Its an easy and quick way to find yourself with a much fuller wallet when it comes to model horse shopping.

When your chores are done and your saddles are shipped out to your customers, pay a visit to Golden Oak Stables where you can fill your stable with just about anything your heart desires.  From Arabians to Clydesdales and everything in between, there’s a new model for you, or 12!

A Summer Of Breyer Horse Events!

May 31, 2010

It is May 31st and summer is right around the corner. For many, school is out and free time is at a peak, and for many others Vacations are a welcome respite to the daily grind. Whatever kind of break you can find for yourself this summer, why not fill it with a bit of your hobby and go to a Breyer event?

The first event of the summer is BreyerWest,  a smaller version of Breyerfest held in Sacramento, California. Taking place June 11th-13th, this event is stuffed full of seminars, two model horse shows, its own special run and a raffle! For those of you on the west coast this is a wonderful opportunity to attend a large Breyer Event!

Up next on the calendar is Summer Break Live, Golden Oak Stables’ all novice show. For those of you in the New England area, this will be the novice event of the year! New showers are always welcome as are previous showers and it is starting to fill up quickly! As with all of Golden Oak Stables’ shows, there are dozens of classes and tons of divisions all waiting to award your horse with that coveted blue ribbon! There is also a fun day being held in conjunction with the lives show, so even if you aren’t going to show, stop on in to the party!

Quickly approaching is the model horse event of the year, Breyerfest held in Lexington, KY. This year is a special one for collectors though. This year, marks both the North America Nationals Model Horse Show being held the same weekend, but also the World Equestrian Games which are right around the corner in September. The North American Nationals is a show that brings people from all over the country and the world to compete with their model horses to award national championships. Similarly, the  WEGs bring competitors from all over the world to Lexington, Kentucky, this is the first time its been held outside of Europe, for competition over 8 different disciplines.  Lexington, and the whole state of Kentucky have been working hard to get things ready for the event, and model horse collectors will get to be some of the first to see these changes in July!

Last but certainly not least on the calendar is Golden Oak Stables’ Workshop Day in August. This event will show you different hobby disciplines and how to create projects of your very own! Details are still in the works, but stay tuned to Stable News for all the latest news on this and all kinds of other hobby events!
